How to make Kratom Tea

One of the biggest issues when starting with Kratom is figuring out how to ingest it. There are a wide variety of ways to take it, however the most popular is likely to simply make Kratom tea.

Kratom Tea is one of the more preferred methods for taking Kratom Tea because of the ease of making the tea.

Other popular methods of ingestion include “Toss and Wash”, Parachuting, Capsules and smoking (don’t do this). These all have their downsides and most seasoned Kratom users, find that making tea is just the most enjoyable and easy way to take it.

Because most people are dealing with Kratom Powder, we’ll discuss how to make tea from powdered Kratom.

Dosing:

First thing to understand is Kratom dosing. There is a plethora of information about optimal Kratom dosing, so lets discuss that quickly.

Kratom in low doses, typically has a stimulant effect. Typically low dose kratom users will enjoy, increased alertness, physical and mental energy, sometimes increased libido, mood elevation and a general increase in motivation. This is great for people who are looking for a boost at work or any cognitively demanding task they’re doing. Kratom as a stimulant is much more of a cognitive booster than a physical one.

If your looking for the analgesic and anxiolytic effects of kratom, then you’ll want to try slightly higher doses. The effects at this level are a reduced sensitivity to both mental and physical pain, and general feeling of mild euphoria and a very relaxed state of mind. This can increase the enjoyment of activities such as listening to music or conversations with friends.
However, keep in mind these effects are mild and if you’re dosing properly this should be enjoyable, but not intense at all.

A typical dose is around 5 grams, though it varies a lot with individuals, so it’s wise to start low (2 or 3grams) and figure out what your optimal dosage is.

**A very common mistake first time users make is to not wait long enough to evaluate the effects. Give the tea at least a full hour, before taking anymore. Often people grow impatient waiting for the effects, take a second dose, and then the first dose kicks in and the 2nd one is overly strong and people get more sedated than they were wanting.

Kratom is definitely a substance that has tolerance concerns and this needs to be understood by everyone who takes it. You should try to avoid taking Kratom everyday, you need to cycle on and off of it to keep your tolerance low. This is important.

Make the Tea:

To make a tea, simply add your measured dose to 8-12oz of hot (not boiling) water, stir to help the Kratom dissolve.
Micronized kratom powder dissolves better and you’ll notice the difference between different vendors in the regard when making tea.
The taste of Kratom is not unpleasant, but it’s very earthy, and many people prefer to make some variations to compensate for the earthy tones.

Tea Variations:

  • If you’re looking for a different texture in your tea, try different amounts of water to create a thicker or thinner beverage.
  • To lighten the earthy taste, add honey and/or lemon. (Lemon juice may have synergistic effect on Kratom as well, meaning you can use a lower dose).
  • If you prefer a cold drink, after the Kratom has dissolved in the hot water, let it cool, then add ice and make a cold drink.
  • Add some mint leaves to lighten the taste.
  • Add a black tea bag, to give it a more familiar tea flavor.

Nausea:

Some people find Kratom causes stomach discomfort, usually in the form of craps or mild nausea. This can often be remedied with the aid of ginger, a well known antiemetic, it’s proven effective at calming the stomach.

  • Chew on a piece of ginger prior to making tea.
  • Add Ginger directly to your tea, this will enhance the taste
  • Try eating ginger chews before or after drinking Kratom tea, to help keep your stomach calm.
  • Take antacids 30 minutes prior to drinking your tea. (This can increase the effects of the tea, so try this with a lower than usual dose)

The Kratom High:

After the tea, you’re going to feel a bit of a body high start to come on, it’s a sensation your whole body will enjoy. Kratom is not intense, it’s very mild and relaxing, so some first time users are disappointed at it’s tempered effects. If you’re looking for a strong high, Kratom isn’t going to satisfy you. However if you’re looking for a tea that will help you relax and can be shared with others, it’s an excellent choice. Enjoying Kratom tea with friends is one of the best aspects of Kratom. The effects last hours depending on the dose and your body chemistry. It comes on slowly and also goes away gradually, without any kind of crash.

Responsible Kratom Use:

Because of Kratom’s slight tolerance and withdrawal attributes, similar to coffee, Kratom should be enjoyed in moderation. If you’re taking it often, ensure that you practice cycling Kratom, so you continue to appreciate it’s benefits without growing a tolerance. Cycling is pretty easy, if you just remember not to take Kratom more than 4x a week, you’ll likely not suffer any withdrawal or tolerance issues. Another aspect of cycling is to rotate in different strains periodically so that you won’t grow too accustomed to a particular strain. Rotating between whites, greens and reds or various kinds of the same color strain can be another tool of avoiding tolerance buildup. This is not a substitute from abstaining from Kratom periodically, but just another way to battle Kratom Tolerance.

Think of it like coffee, many people only drink coffee during the weekdays and then don’t drink it on the weekend. This keeps their tolerance reduced and thus the caffeine continues to be effective during the week.

Responsible use is paramount to continued Kratom enjoyment.
